ConnectPoint Apostolic Church began its journey as a daughter work of the First United Pentecostal Church of Jacksonville (First UPC Jax). As such, we started as an extension of worship services under the legal, financial, and spiritual oversight of the mother church. We are now our own entity (a sister church), and ConnectPoint Pastor Michael E. Guerra oversees all operations of the local church.
Although ConnectPoint is now a sister church and its own legal entity, the Bible clearly articulates the need for accountability in the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:11-16). Ministry leaders are not exempted from this requirement!
First UPC Jax is led by Pastor John F. Hopkins, III and Senior Pastor Lester J. Green. Pastor Guerra served under their combined leadership for the past decade, and leans heavily on their wisdom. You’ll get familiar with their faces, and we’re sure you’ll love them as much as we do!
1. Unity with other people who believe the same thing we do, inside and outside of our own community and even across the globe. This gives us a network of partners in the Great Commission through prayer, giving, and serving.
2. It gives you peace of mind that the Pastor and ministry team of ConnectPoint are accountable to someone. Submission to Spiritual authority is both Biblical and stabilizing to a local church.
3. We also benefit from the diversity of gifts and ministries in the UPCI, which strengthens our faith and ability to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. You’ll find that throughout the year we’ll have an opportunity to participate in conferences, youth events, children’s services, special offerings, and many other things that strengthen us as a body of believers.
