Sunday Sermon Notes (7/27/14)

Notes from Sunday’s message:

“The disciples were described in Acts 17:6 those who turned the world upside down! I know it’s 2014, but I want us to understand…it is STILL God’s plan for the church to be Spirit-led and Spirit-filled. It is STILL God’s plan for miracles and signs and wonders to be the norm. It is STILL God’s plan for the church to walk in spiritual authority. It is STILL God’s plan for the gifts of the Spirit to be in operation in the church. It is STILL God’s plan for us to turn our world upside down!”

“It’s not His will for us to simply show up and occupy a chair. He wants to give us visions and dreams. He wants to prophesy through us. He wants the winds of Pentecost to blow unfettered in our midst.”

“Here is the trick though: there is a contingency to the moving of the Spirit. Jesus went to His hometown of Nazareth to minister. It was one of the few places where he did no miracles. Why? Matthew 13:58 And he did not do many mighty works there, because of their unbelief. Another time Jesus was approached by two blind men, crying out for healing. He replies in Matthew 9:29 “…according to your faith be it unto you.” Jesus has all power in heaven and earth. There is nothing beyond His reach. There is nothing beyond His ability. YET, He has chosen that He moves under one condition: we give Him the freedom to do so.”

“How will God fulfill His will in this world? He’ll do it through us! He’ll use what’s in our hand! There are three principles that I want to demonstrate to you about stretching out our hands to make ourselves available to God. They can all be found in the parable of the talents.”

“Principle #1: God prefers MULTIPLICATION over ADDITION.”

“Principle #2: He will bless us by the same measure we surrender to Him.”

“Principle #3: God blesses us when our motives are pure.”
